| | Future Engineers How do scientists successfully land missions on Mars? What does it take to launch a space shuttle into outer space? Design and carry out your very own engineering project. If you like to construct and create, Future Engineering is right up your alley! | | | | Digital Photography Enter the Digital Age! Learn the basics of digital photography, shutter speeds, aperture, close-up shots, and computer editing. Print and take home pictures of your Astrocamp memories. You also get to share your work with the entire camp at our finale slide show! Digital camera, photographic equipment, and all supplies are provided. | | Robotics Let loose as you design and build your own robots using LEGO Mindstorm. This class culminates with your robot competing against your friends’ robots in a Robo-War. Will your robot be the last one standing? Advanced Robotics (B and C campers only) Couldn't get enough robotics last summer? This class will gives you 3 full hours of class time to construct more detailed and intricate robots. Will your robot be the last one standing in the BattleBot finale? | | | | Model Mania They’re a little smaller than the real things, but just as cool. Put together scaled models of the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, various rockets, airplanes and more!
| | Introduction to Rockets Build and launch water rockets. How do they work? Why do they work? Can you make them work better? Fly higher? Go bravely where no rocket has gone before! | | | | Advanced Rockets (C campers only) Go beyond water rockets and build real combustion rockets that go thousands of feet high! This class will be a true adventure in rocketry. The class will culminate in an overnight rocket-launching trip to a nearby dry lake bed to launch all of the rockets that were built! Prerequisite: You must be a C camper this year and have taken Intro Rockets. | Holograms What is a hologram and how is it made? Two very good questions that will get answered by your instructor during this class. By using lasers, mirrors and beam splitters you will make a variety of holograms that you can take home and show them to your friends. | | | | |
